The Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) is around the corner, bringing an exciting beginning to the start of the new year. Stretching over a 10-day period the PSIFF will work its magic from January 2 – 12, 2015. Celebrating its 26th year, the PSIFF has set itself apart as one of the largest and prestigious film festivals in the country. With more than 136,000 movie and film enthusiasts flooding the town of Palm Springs, the PSIFF honors those in the film industry who have gone above and beyond in their profession. The PSIFF prides itself in having the largest collection of Academy Award Foreign Language film entries of any fest and is known for its ultra glamorous awards ceremonies.

This is the time of the year in which we wait in anticipation for the announcements of awards and honorees. Last year, at the 25th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, the Ensemble Performance Award was given to the film American Hustle, which included cast members Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy River. The Gala honored several actors and actresses, including Sandra Bullock, Matthew McConaughey and Julia Roberts.

The 2015 Palm Springs International Film Festival will feature more than 180 films from over 70 countries. The Awards Gala will present Reese Witherspoon with the Chairman’s Award for Wild. The Gala will also honor several other actors and actresses including Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne and Rosamund Pike. The Breakthrough Performance Award, Actor will be presented to David Oyelowo for his performance as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma.
