Steven Henke: Revivals store is a unique retailer because it benefits the Desert AIDS Project (D.A.P.). Donating, shopping or volunteering at Revivals helps fund primary, dental and behavioral healthcare along with a host of the services that create community and offer support to DAP’s 4,200 clients.

Q: What inspires you to do this work that benefits so many people?

SH: In some ways, Revivals feels like a community center because our volunteers and store employees personally know our customers or have friends who receive health care at D.A.P. Each of us is inspired by having found our mission match.

Q: Tell us about some of the awards Revivals has won.

SH: Year after year, Revivals wins Best Thrift Store in reader-generated contests such as Best of the Valley, Best of the Best, Ultimate Pride in The Desert Sun newspaper, Palm Springs Life Magazine and Desert Outlook. This year we were excited to learn we also won Best Furniture Store.

Q: Revivals has their own brand. Is it furniture, fashion or both?

SH: Mode at Revivals Furniture® is a collection of affordably designed new furniture, lighting, rugs and accessories that fit perfectly in the desert midcentury modern casual lifestyle.

Q: When will your brand be featured on the HGTV program “Desert Flippers”?

SH: The show’s design star, Lindsay Bennett, selected items from the Mode at Revivals Furniture® collection for three episodes that are already airing. So many of our customers are in the midst of renovating their own desert dream home, and look to design shows for inspiration, so the association felt like a perfect fit.

Q: Tell us about your new brand designed by Drew and Jonathan Scott.

SH: The brand is Scott Living, and it reflects the brothers’ personal design philosophy that style, luxury, and function should be affordable and within the reach of the everyday consumer. The collection has a clean design aesthetic inspired by a mix of midcentury modern and global design elements. All the pieces we have chosen for Revivals stores create space for conversation with the people you care about most.

Q: How would you describe your role in the community?

SH: What I love most about my job is being able to tell the unique stories of Revivals’ customers, volunteers, and team members. The store attracts fascinating people who care deeply about the community.
